Mom’s Favourite Meat Loaf

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 680 Gm (1 1/2 lb) lean ground beef
  • 2 Large eggs (beaten)
  • 3/4 cups milk
  • 2/3 cups Panko bread crumbs (or fine dry bread crumbs)
  • 2 Tbsp finely chopped onion (about 1 small onion)
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 1/4 Tsp chili powder
  • freshly ground pepper

Topping

  • 1 Tbsp prepared mustard
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce

Directions

Mix the ground beef, eggs, milk, bread crumbs, onion, salt, pepper and chili pepper together. Pat mixture into and 8 ¾ x 3 in. round baking dish (1.5 L or 1 1/2 quart)

Bake in 350 °F oven for 60 minutes. Drain off excess fat.

Remove from the oven. Mix the mustard and chili sauce and spread over the top.

Return to the oven for 10 more minutes. Cut into wedges to serve.
