Grown-up Sugar Cookies are a wonderful old fashioned cookie, that are often called Angel Crisp Cookies.
The beauty of these cookies is that they are light but crisp, and will hold their shape when dunked in a beverage.
Enjoy!

Robin Hood Flour

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter (at room temperature)
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 Large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- sugar for dipping
Directions
|
Combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. |
|
If the butter is not at room temperature, microwave it for 1 minute at the lowest setting. If it is still a little hard, continue to microwave at 10 seconds at the lowest setting, until it is room temperature soft. |
|
Cream together the butter and shortening. Gradually add the brown sugar, then white sugar until smooth. Blend in the egg and vanilla |
|
Stir in the dry ingredients until well combined |
|
Use a teaspoon to get enough dough. Then shape into 1 inch balls. I like to roll a cookie sheet worth of balls (12) at a time |
|
Roll each ball in white sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. |
|
Using your pointer finger and middle finger, gently push down a little on the cookie |
|
Bake at 375 deg F (convection oven) or 400 deg F (regular oven) for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly golden. Cool on parchment paper or cookie rack. These cookies keep well for several weeks |
