Wash cauliflower. Break or cut into flowerets. |

Batter

Mix together the flour, cornmeal and salt. Mix together the egg and half of the milk. Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture and stir. Gradually add the rest of the milk, until the mixture is the consistency of gruel. |

Dip each piece of cauliflower into the batter and set aside. |

| Heat the oil in a deep frying pan (if using a deep fryer, you will need to use more oil). Heat the oil to 365 deg F (180 C) or until bubbles start to form. Drop the cauliflower into the oil, in batches. Turn the cauliflower as it starts to cook and turns a golden brown. Drain on a paper towel. |
