| Preheat the oven to 350 deg F. |

| Combine all the dry ingredients. |
|

Add buttermilk and mix until the dough comes together. If the dough seems dry, you may need to add a little more buttermilk. The dough should be moist and a bit sticky. |

Shape into a round and place in a cast iron frying pan, which will give it a nice crust. If you do not have a cast iron frying pan, you can use a parchment lined baking sheet.
Cut an X into the top with a sharp knife. |

Bake about 45 minutes until dark golden.
The loaf should sound hollow when you pick it up and knock on the bottom. |
|
|
| Cool at least 15 minutes before slicing. |
