Apple Coffee Cake is an old fashioned coffee cake made with basic ingredients from your larder and topped with an apple cinnamon layer.
The Farmer’s market has now closed and will re-open in the spring There was a real flurry the other day as people purchased big bags of potatoes, brussel sprouts, turnip and other winter vegetables with the hope of preserving that market fresh taste a little longer.
Now, I am a sucker for apples and purchased a bushel of MacIntosh Apples. Along with the purchase is the realization that I need to eat an apple each day and make all of my apple recipes in order to use all apples while they are still fresh.

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup soft butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 1/2 Cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 Tsp baking powder
- 3/4 Tsp salt
- 1 cup dairy sour cream
- 1/2 Tsp baking soda
Topping
- 1 Medium sized apple
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 Tsp ground cinnamon
