Rita’s Fruit Drops

Rita's Fruit Drops

Traditionally made during Christmas baking at our house, Rita’s Fruit Drops is the one recipe that I end up making several times in December.  These cookies are so good that they just keep disappearing.

Rita’s Fruit Drops are a soft and chewy fruit packed cookie that get better the longer they age.  They are usually filled with dates, glace cherries and raisins, but I have replaced the raisins with sweetened dried blueberries and/or cranberries.

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 Tsp salt

  • 1/4 Tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 Tsp water

Directions

Quarter the red and green cherries. Use scissors to cut the dates into pieces the size of peas. Add the cherries, dates and raisins to a bowl. Set aside.
Mix the flour with the salt. Add 1/4 cup of the flour mixture to the fruit mixture and gently mix together, separating any fruit that is stuck together.
