Traditional Baked Beans were always an essential at our home when I was growing up. They were often baked and served with pork spareribs.
The navy beans were soaked overnight and then cooked and then baked with onion, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, salt and pepper. A very tasty dish, but a long process.
Then about 25 years ago, my Mom (Grammy) discovered this Easy Baked Beans dish….what a treat!
Grammy’s Easy Baked Beans take about 2 hours to prepare from start to finish. Tinned beans are combined with brown sugar, sweet peppers, ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce and optionally bacon.
I doubled the recipe for a Pig Roast at the cottage this summer. They were a big hit…so much so, that I had to provide some take away containers for leftovers.
