What is not to like about warm Baked Apple Dumplings are that are filled with apples and baked in a butter, cinnamon and nutmeg sauce?
I bake these just before dinner is ready, so they can be served warm with whipped cream or ice cream. Should there be any left over, they make a lovely breakfast bread.
Enjoy!

Peel and grate apples (or use a mandolin to dice the apples on the smallest blade). Spread evenly over dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Starting from long side, roll dough into a tight roll. Pinch seam to seal. With a sharp knife, cut into 12, 1" thick slices. Arrange slices face up in a 9 x 13" (23 x 33 cm) baking dish. Pour sauce over dumplings and bake for about 50 minutes, or until golden. |

Cool slightly. To serve, lift a dumpling out and turn it sauce side up. These are nice warm with whipped cream or ice cream. |
